As presented in the Bible, the message is straight forward: The Master goes on a trip and leaves his steward in charge. When he returns, he asks the steward "What have you done with what I entrusted to you?"
Each of us has been entrusted with the gifts entrusted to us. How are we using them in our lives? Someday we will be called to give an accounting of how we used these gifts to advance the kingdom of God.
St. William is composed of people like me.
I help make it what it is.
It will be friendly if I am.
Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them.
It will do great work, if I work.
It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver.
It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship, if I invite and bring them in.
It will be a church of loyalty and love, fearlessness and faith,
and a church with a noble spirit, if I,
who make it what it is, am filled with those same things.
Therefore, with the help of God,
I shall dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I want my church to be.
Amen
The responsibilities of the Stewardship Committee:
The mission of the Evangelization Commission is to call our brothers and sisters home. Our brothers and sisters are not only estranged Catholics, but any who are seeking God. We search for opportunities to help them respond to the Spirit's call.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says evangelization is: "The proclamation of Christ and his Gospel by word and the testimony of life, in fulfillment of Christ's command." (CCC,905).
Many scholary debates have taken place over this statement, some of which have served only to complicate and confuse its meaning. Jesus kept it very simple. He called his followers to heed his words and to follow his example, in word and deed. When we live our lives as Jesus taught us to live, we share our faith through the testimony of our lives. Some are called to evangelize through words. All are called to proclaim Christ through the testimony of our lives and that too is evangelization.
