Knights of Columbus Council 14087 is committed to helping our veterans. This years donations will assist veterans seeking affordable housing and those needing assistance re-entering the work force. Local organizations will receive 100% of all donations. Your free will donation will be taken the weekend of November 2nd and 3rd at both Parishes. All Saint's Day is Friday, November 1st. As is our tradition, we remember our immediate family members and parishioners who have passed away this past year in our Litany of the Saints. If you would like to have a family member remembered, please call or email Gail at the Parish Business Office, and be sure to specify which parish you are with.
Volunteer Liturgical Ministers are needed for the All Saints Day Mass on Friday, November 1st at 12 Noon. You can share your ministry by signing up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board.
It’s time to get your annual flu shot. The experts strongly advise to do so by the end of October. Those 65+ years of age should always ask for the "Senior Flu Shot," which is 24% more effective for seniors than the regular one. Shots are available at Ingles, Walmart, Walgreens, and your Doctor's office. Free with Medicare. Dr. Joe Keffer
The Ladies Guild Christmas Boutique will take place on Saturday, December 7th and Sunday December 8th. We are looking for donations of anything Christmas and craft related (Think decorations and gifts). Remember, the Boutique is only 7 weeks away! Prayerful Hands Ministry has created Pocket Prayers for our military and 1st Responders. If you have a family member in these professions, please feel free to take one from the basket in the Commons to send to your loved one. These are little reminders that those who serve to protect us and our freedoms are in our prayers.

The Book of Life is in the Commons on the Lectern outside the Sacristy for all to write the names of deceased family and friends. If you have previously inscribed names in the Book, you do not have to do it again. The Book will be on the altar the month of November, and those in the Book will be remembered at all Masses. November is a special month set aside to remember our loved ones who have gone before us.

IHM Bereavement Support Group continues this Wednesday thru November 13th. We will meet at 9:30AM in the upstairs kitchen. These sessions are meant to be a comfortable, casual and confidential way for all who have lost a loved one to listen and share their experiences and gain some healing. Bishop Begley Conference on Appalachia on “Working for Safe and Affordable Housing in Far Western North Carolina” will take place in Franklin, NC on Saturday November 2nd starting at 9:30AM. The conference will focus on efforts by varied non-profits to provide affordable and safe housing in the far western counties of North Carolina. Catholic Charities is conducting a Day of Reflection at St. William on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 with moderator Sr. Mary Hugh Mauldin, RSM, MA. The topic is “The Beatitudes and Living the Christian Life.” There is no charge for this event which begins at 10AM and concludes with a prayer service at 2:20PM. Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided. These programs have always been a huge success in the past so please be sure to include this event as part of your preparation for advent and the birth of our Savior.
