United Way Community Connections is again collecting school supplies for needy children in Clay and Cherokee Counties. Flyers suggesting what they need are on the table in the Commons area of both Churches. The Bus will be picked up Monday, August 19th at St. William. Together we can help hundreds of needy children start the school year off right with the supplies they need.
The Sharing Center is looking for additional donations of paper products, i.e., paper towels, paper cups, etc., for use at the Center. A shopping cart will be out in the Commons for your donations.
St. Vincent de Paul’s fall fundraiser is a 2-night stay at a charming and cozy bed and breakfast nestled in the splendor of the Great Smokey Mountains. Tickets are $5.00 each, and go on sale this weekend as well as thru the Parish Office. You will have a chance to win a 2-night stay in a Premier Room at the Buckhorn Inn in Gatlinburg. Breakfast is included in the room package worth approximately $500. Ticket drawing will take place after the 11AM Mass on Sunday, October 6th. Good luck!
Envelopes containing your raffle tickets are on the table in the Commons. Please be sure to return your ticket stubs and money in the same envelope, and you may drop the envelope in the collection basket or return it to the Business Office during business hours. THE DSA provides support for more than 20 services that Catholic Charities is able to offer to those in need in Western North Carolina and throughout the Diocese. Mid July marks the half-way point of the DSA Campaign this year. When we have reached our goal set by the Diocese, funds over and above our target are refunded directly to the Parish. Likewise, any shortfall must be paid from Parish operating funds. If you have not yet pledged or made a donation to the 2019 campaign, please consider supporting the DSA with your financial gifts!
Join fellow Parishioners on Friday, July 26th from 5PM-7PM and enjoy fresh mountain trout, either fried or grilled, fries, slaw, hush puppies, brownie and a drink for the incredible price of $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The Knights of Columbus always put out an outstanding meal, so plan on being there and help support their worth-while causes in the community!
Thompson Gas Give Back Program will take place again this year for both Parishes. All existing customers must sign up again and we always welcome new customers. As soon as the final figures are in as to our rebate from last year and pricing for this coming year, we will have an insert in the Bulletin. This is a win-win situation for not only the parishioners but our parishes as well as part of their “Giving back to our churches” program.

Guardian ad Litem volunteer is the eyes and ears for a judge, and the person who tells the child’s story in court. Volunteers are needed in Cherokee and Clay Counties to assist judges in making decisions regarding the best interests of the child. Our Ladies Guild will host their first Father's Day Brunch immediately after the 11 AM Mass, Sunday, June 16th. Please stay after Mass and join us in celebrating that special father, grandfather, great-grandfather or godfather who has inspired us throughout our lives. A free will offering will be taken.
Knights of Columbus will have a fish fry next Friday, June 14th, from 5PM-7PM out at the Pavilion on the campus of St. William Church. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children. Dinner will include locally grown mountain trout from Andrews, French fries, slaw and brownie. Soft drinks and water will be available. In the event of rain they will move the dinner into the Commons of the Church. The Knights always put out a great meal at a great price so mark your calendars and join us Friday.
Bulletin Prayer Lists will be purged on June 30th. The Bulletin prayer list contains the names of Parishioners and immediate family members in need of prayers, and the e-alert system is for friends and extended family members as well as Parishioners. The Prayers of the Faithful which are read from the altar during Mass are for the most serious illnesses of our Parishioners. They are also remembered on the Bulletin Prayer list for each Parish. If you wish your family member to be remembered, it is important that you contact the office. Please respect others’ privacy and be sure you have authorization from the person or their immediate family to place someone on the list.
The Knights of Columbus will host a mini retreat at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Saturday morning, May 18th in the Social Hall. The Theme will be Ask or Stump the Pastor who will be Father George. Donuts/Coffee at 9:00AM with sandwiches and Adoration to follow. All Parishioners are invited. We are blessed and most fortunate that our annual Mission scheduled for August 3rd thru August 7th will be led by Fr. Kevin MacDonald, C.Ss.R. Fr. Kevin is a Redemptorist priest originally from Woburn, MA. Ordained in 1991, Fr. Kevin has worked as a parish priest in Dominica, New York, Boston, St. Lucia and St. Croix. He is currently assigned to the Redemptorist Community in Daytona Beach, Florida. We are thrilled to welcome him back into our faith community this summer. Bishop Peter Jugis, will celebrate a Mass for United States military personnel on Monday, May 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Charlotte. The Mass and rosary (to be recited at 10:30 a.m.) will be offered for all military personnel who have died, retired and for those who are now serving. All military personnel are invited and encouraged to come in uniform.
